Is Point Shaving Alive and Well In The NCAA

As I sat down to watch the National Championship game last night between the Auburn Tigers and the Oregon Ducks, I felt very confident that the strength, power, and speed of the SEC caliber player would prevail once again. I guess I was mostly right, but I was left with one major thought after the game had ended. Was Cam Newton really giving it his all in that game?

Maybe he was playing hurt, maybe he was in awe of the big scene. I find the latter hard to believe since he has been in the spotlight in a major way for most of the college football season. What was evident is that last night's game was without a doubt one of his worst performances of the year. I dare say that can be attributed to the defense he was facing. He was simply making errant throws all over the place, diving when he could have gotten plenty more yards, and playing sometimes at half his normal speed. Even when he fumbled in the fourth quarter he looked nothing like the dominating rusher he has been all year while carrying that ball.

I am convinced that something fishy may have been going on. Call me a conspiracy theorist. Call me whatever you want, I think sCam Newton was shaving points last night!

If Cam Newton Wins Heisman...

I stand true to my belief that if Cameron Newton wins the Heisman Trophy tonight, it is adding more fuel to the fire of everything that is wrong with America. Sports writers are turning a blind eye to the FACT that Cam Newton has not shown INTEGRITY throughout his short "amateur" playing career.

Is Cam Newton the most outstanding football player in the NCAA? I think so. Has he done so with integrity, exactly like the first sentence of the Heisman Mission states? Absolutely not.

The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. The Heisman Trophy Trust ensures the continuation and integrity of this award. The Trust, furthermore, has a charitable mission to support amateur athletics and to provide greater opportunities to the youth of our country. Our goal through these charitable endeavors is for the Heisman Trophy to symbolize the fostering of a sense of community responsibility and service to our youth, especially those disadvantaged or afflicted. All assets of the Trust beyond the expense of maintaining the annual presentation of the Heisman Memorial Trophy are reserved for such charitable causes. I commend Seth Emerson of the Bulldogs Blog for abstaining and not voting this year. If someone can vote on Cameron Newton after reading the first sentence of that quote, they are doing nothing more than ignoring the request of the people who give the award. Enough said!

5 STAR RECRUITING PIMPS

My partners and I are considering a new business plan. The tentative name of this business is "5 Star Recruiting Pimps: We'll get you paid; just don't tell your kid about it!"

Most of you know by now that the NCAA, in it's retarded decision, has opened up a whole world of new business opportunities. All a parent has to do now is solicit the help of an "agent" to help them get money for having their child go to a certain college and play sports.

I'm thinking that the finders fee for our business' services will be somewhere around 25%. We will be consulting other "experts" in this field to see if this is an appropriate fee. Rodney Garner, Coach Richt, and company, are you listening? I know people that know people that know people! These "people" have hefty bank accounts, and ways of hiding the "exchanges" of said monies!

Auburn Wins, Goes to 0-11 For The Season.

That's right, I said Z-E-R-O & 11. The Auburn Tigers and sCam Newton have sold their souls to the devil and beat my beloved Dawgs tonight. Mark my word. I don't go out on a limb very often, but the Tigers have been playing an ineligible player this year, and he is AWESOME, but they will forfeit their season when all is said and done.

Am I bitter that he helped to defeat the Dawgs tonight? Not at all. We couldn't stop him because he is one hell of a college football player. I don't think he will be able to do the things he does at the next level, but we'll see.

My deepest concerns pertaining to this whole situation are that he is completely SCREWING Auburn University, and they have gone all-in hoping a miracle keeps the NCAA from ruling sCam as an ineligible player. Cecil Newton solicited money. That negated sCam's amateur status. Put this in your pipe and smoke it too: Auburn paid the kid or his family. Otherwise, why in the hell did he go there instead of Mississippi State at the last minute. How did Cecil's church miraculously come up with 10's of thousands of dollars to make improvement? Why is the IRS and FBI interviewing witnesses? I know why...the rumors are TRUE.

Go Dawgs! That was one hell of a performance against the number "2" team in the nation.

Newton Will Play, Or Won't He?

As a true Dawg fan, I hope that we get the chance to BEAT down the Tigers with Newton on the field tomorrow. Will we? That question may not be as solid of a yes as it was yesterday after all of these facts have come out.

Why does the FBI want to talk to Bond? "They don't want people shopping children around for thousands of dollars," Bond said.

Even if Newton received no money to attend Auburn, soliciting money can be an NCAA violation, jeopardizing Newton's eligibility.

I have stood on the fence as far as passing judgement on this story all week long. Now, I am pretty darn sure that Auburn might be screwed. The NCAA has a reputation of getting pissed off when schools play athletes knowing the $hit is about to hit the fan. If I am AU right now and I know something of fact, I tell the kid he is sitting this one out. We'll see at 3:30 Saturday.

Cam "Hide Your Laptop" Newton

I have a friend that keeps calling #2 from Auburn, Cam "Heisman" Newton. So, as any good Dawg fan would, I coined the phrase Cam "Hide Your Laptop" Newton. It seems like a much more fitting name to me seeing as how the Heisman trophy is supposedly given to a player that shows this:

“The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity.”

Due to the fact that this story is absolutely true, Cam Newton is not a Heisman Candidate in my mind.

On the flip side though, how is Corch Meyer justifying letting Chris Rainey play after what he did, but kicked Newton off the team? Oh, how I hate the Gators, and all they stand for!

One Way To Defend Cameron Newton

Last night, I was thinking about writing a blog on how the Dawgs might attempt to stop Cam Newton next week, then this story broke.

Maybe, if he is cleared of all that stuff, we can get this chick to stand on the sideline next to him!
