Those memories of the past will always be part of the lore that makes UGA so special in my heart. My future dreams are that we get to see these five guys on the cover of SI one day. I can see the title now: "The Fab Five: They helped bring the Georgia Bulldogs out of the cellar, and back into the title hunt". A guy can dream can't he?

We're Going To Party Like It's 1980!

By now, we've all read that UGA finally got it's due with the Princeton Review. With this news, I see that it is only fit that I spend the first year of The Decade of The Dawg partying like it's 1980!

I've mentioned before that 1980 is the year of my birth, but more importantly, it's the last year the Football Dawgs reigned supreme over college football. I'm in search of my retro #34 Dawg jersey, so I can go ahead and start the season off right!

How are we going to do it this year? Just like in 1980; a dominant running game, and a smashmouth defense!

Would You Rather Wednesday

Would you rather...

1)...have a top notch basketball team at UGA, or a top notch baseball program?
This is tough for me, but I guess hoops.

2)...get married on the 50 yard line in Sanford, or get married in the church of your choice?
On the G baby!

3)...bring back a young Herschel Walker to play for the Dawgs, or David Green, Pollack, Thomas Davis, and Knowshon Moreno?
Since I was only 2 when Herschel left, bring him back please!

4)...the Falcons win the Superbowl, or the Dawgs win the SEC?
Dawgs all the way! Both would be nice!

5)...marry a Georgia Tech graduate, or a Tennessee grad?
Whichever one had more money! lol

I'll keep it short this am, and hopefully get something good for later this afternoon!

What's New In Dawgville?

As I mentioned I was going to last week, my fiance and I made the trek over to Athens Saturday night to watch Herschel's MMA debut. I know I could have watched the Showtime fight from the confines of my own home, but just being in Athens seemed to make it all that much better to watch. Say what you want about Walker, but the man is a physical specimen. Just like he did as an 18 year old, he amazed the world with his easy defeat of the overmatched opponent. Who's next?

The Lady Dawgs are on a major slide right now. I gave them their props a few weeks back when they became the first team ever to start the season at 16-0, and now they find themselves amidst a 3 game losing streak. I'm sure Coach Landers will get them back on track come tourney time.

I am eager to see what surprises await us on the recruiting trail over this stretch towards signing day. My number one hope for now is that the Dawgs can land the Whitaker kid from Warner Robins. I think he could be a major force at the nose in this new 3-4 scheme.

The men's basketball team had a minor slide this week, but I think Coach Fox is building something special over there in Athens. Maybe we can go on a run and squeak into the tourney.

Herschel's Personality Tonight

Herschel Walker Knocked Out

...almost every would be tackler that stood in his way when he was playing for the Bulldogs. Now, unless you have been under a rock, we are all ready to see if he can do the same in his first MMA fight tomorrow night.

We've all heard a thousand tales of things that Herschel could do that are almost in-human. 5,000 push ups every day, 5,000 sit-ups, 4% body fat while still weighing 230+. There is no doubt the guy is a FREAK. Now, at 47, can he hang with a trained MMA fighter half his age?

Here is one of the better articles I have read over the past few days about the fight. I, for one, will be in Athens tomorrow night to watch the greatest Dawg legend ever do his thing. What bar should I settle on to watch the beat down (either way it goes)?

Mark Richt Going To Tennessee...A Nightmare!

So much is going on in college football right now, and most notably the SEC coaching saga. I feel like they could make a reality show out of these ordeals, or better yet, maybe even a soap opera. I've had so much of this on my brain as of late, I woke up in the middle of the night this past evening because of the horrible nightmare I was having.

Many of you know that UGA's very own Herschel Walker will enter the ring this month to compete in his firts MMA fight. This story, combined with the Dawgs' 7 week search for a defensive coordinator and the Lane Kiffin-Weasel drama, all came together in my mind for one hell of a nightmare last night!

The dream, I mean NIGHTMARE, went a little something like this:

"I was having dinner with my fiance for her birthday when my phone started ringing over and over again with calls from my dad. He doesn't normally call more than once in a row, so I knew it must be important. When I finally answered, he sounded distrought about the breaking news that had just come on over ESPN; Mark Richt is leaving the University of Georgia to take over at Tennessee! I immediately lost my appetite for the delicious chicken parmesan that was sitting there. I tried to hold back the tears and keep from spoiling Sarah's birthday dinner, but I couldn't help it. We rushed home so that I could watch the press conference on ESPN. There stood Coach Richt giving his thanks to the Dawgnation, when all of a sudden Herschel Walker ran up onto the podium without his shirt on. He looked at the camera, flexed, and began to pummel Coach Richt with his newly learned MMA moves."

At this point, I awakened in a cold sweat! Then I realized, it was all a nightmare, and that we are not nearly as bad off in Bulldawg land as some may think! I can't wait to find out who my beloved coach will hire as the new defensive coordinator, but I am still glad Mark Richt is MY coach, as long as we will have him!
