Washaun Ealey, RUN This State Tonight

Last year, Washaun Ealey made it clear that the kid can bring it (20 carries, 183 yards) in the Clean Old Fashion Hate game. This year has been disappointing as far as his production and off the field problems. I have yet to back off my opinion that the kid is a potential 1,200 yard back in the SEC. Will he do it next year? I think so.

None-the-less, barring his fumbleitous returning, I predict we will see 100+ yards from Ealey again tonight. As with the season, the running game was strange this year. I attribute some of it to an under-performing line, much of it to not having AJ from the start, a LOT of it to play calling, and the rest to the football gods.

Hopefully the kid will be back in true fashion for 2011!

About That Ealey Fumble

This is the only decent video I could find of the Washaun Ealey disastrous fumble from last Saturday. The play stars at the 50 second mark of the video:



I remember being upset that it looked like the official blew the whistle and marked Ealey down immediately. You can see from this video that one officially definitely spotted the ball down. My questions is whether or not a whistle blew. If it did, I hope the SEC at least gives a good slap on the wrist to this crew.

I realize that we still got whipped on almost all aspects of the game, so a bad call is no excuse for the loss.

Why did the coaching staff not raise hell? Does anyone know if the play was blown dead?

UGA Signs Contract With "Your Cab"

Hopefully this headline will be a real one in the coming days. I wonder what would it would actually cost to take a company like Your Cab and contract with them to have 3-4 cab drivers on call at all times to drive UGA Athletes around.

The arrests for driving related instances are completely ridiculous. I love The Grit Tree's blog about players finding their way to the DMV.

Would You Rather

I haven't done a would you rather in several weeks, so I thought I'd bring it back for today. My friends and I love to play this game when we're sitting around drinking, um "beverages". You can basically relate it to anything you want, but here let's stick as close to UGA football as we can.

WOULD YOU RATHER...

...transfer to Cincinnati, Louisville, or somewhere else to continue your college football career? Personally, I would go to the school that puts the most kids in the NFL if I thought I was an NFL caliber player.

...go to a college football program that was loaded with talent at your position, or a school where you knew you would get on the field quickly? I am a winner, so I want to go to whatever school is going to win the most games. If I sit the bench for a few years, then I just need to get better.

...see Aaron Murray throw the ball 15-20 times per game and squeak by with wins, so throw it 30+ each Saturday in a bunch of shootouts? How many games did Buck Belue throw the ball over 30 times in 1980?

...see Caleb King and Washaun Ealey rush for over 1,000 yards a piece, or have one of them blow up for 1,800+ yards? This is a tough one for me! Something tells me that if you have two guys over 1,000 yards in the SEC, you have will have a special season.

...get rid of players that aren't "team first", or keep "turds" on your team that are 5 star recruits with unlimited potential? I've said it once, and I'll say it again..give me a team loaded with 3 star guys that really understand the concept of team, and I could win championships. I really don't care what the statistics say. Attitude is everything in life, not just football.

Hey Bobo! Let's See Some Of This Please!

I've heard some mention of the Dawgs running out of a two tight end set some this season. I thought I would take a minute to draw up the formation, and think about what it could potentially do to defensive match-ups when we trot out our personnel.

There are several ways to line up against this formation, but it can potentially cause a whole lot of mismatches if Kris Durham continues his great comeback, Washaun Ealey shows up as we expect, and whoever wins this QB battle is as good as advertised. We all know that #8, AJ Green, is going to give anybody that lines up against him fits.

You're probably going to put Orson Charles in a lot of good situations. And more so, I think that with 3-4 legitimate choices at receiving positions, Ealey may have the opportunity to run the ball like a mad man! I love all the things that can be done out of a 2 tight set when you have a great receiver and tailback to go along with it!
