Dawgbone Blog Nervous Breakdown!

I was just introduced to The Dawgbone Website in January of 2009. It was like heaven when I found a place that organized my daily reads into one great Dawg haven!

That being said, this is my first August as a Dawgbone visitor and I am quickly becoming overwhelmed by the amount of daily blogs. So many bloggers post 2, 3, 4, even 5+ blogs each and every day. With so many blogs, how can a man work a normal job and still read about his Dawgs without going crazy?

Calling all bloggers...can't we limit our Dawgbone posts to 1 or 2 per day? Most of you guys write some excellent Dawg blogs, and I LOVE reading them. It's just overwhelming when there are 50+ a day to choose from! Is anyone else having this problem, or should I just deal with it and get on with my life? LOL

On a football note; how exciting is this defense shaping up to be during our pre-season? I am getting less and less nervous about the switch to the 3-4, and more excited to see how dominant we can become!

  1. Just enjoy it all or be choosey as some are just repetitions of the same.

I'm with you there...there does seem to be a lot of people posting blogs about the same stuff. I'm a Dawgbone junkie too...as a matter of fact I pretty much have to start my day off with it, but I have come to pass over the majority of them unless the title catches my eye. Now my first stop is the "Leather Helmet Recruiting Update" Blog and then I'll alway check out the UGA Blog (your blog), Blogging Pantless, GTP, and unfortunately the AJC...you definitely have to weed out some of the blogs because they just repeat what's already been said. GO DAWGS!

  3. I get excited when people read and post on comments on my blog! Otherwise, I wouldn't take the time to write it. My intent is to not just regurgitate something that I read in another publications, but to come up with something original based on my opinion.

Sometimes, things are too "big" not to link too however!

  4. I can understand the need to not see 5-6 posts a day from various blogs. I'll admit that we're guilty of the same thing lately, but I'll offer up some defense of that.

We have a team of guys writing for the site and when we took my old blog and absorbed it into the new page, it was so there would be constant content updates for the site. Yes, you'll see lots of posting from us, but it's not site-whoring or anything like that. It's us pushing as much content out for a fan base that's hungry for it.

What we try to do is not regurgitate every single bit of news out there. With so many blogs, the need for original content is strong or at least the need for original opinions on everyday news. Like you, that's what we try to provide.

It's a catch-22. Most fans love more content, but some don't. The problem comes when you're indexed with Dawgbone (which is a pure blessing when it comes to gaining an audience) and every update gets pushed. It appears as if you're doing it for clicks and I can assure you that we're not. It's just after 5+ years of doing this, I finally have people helping me get content out to the fan base.

I see it as a good thing, honestly. People are smart. They'll read what grabs their attention. The rest will just skip it and move on.

I do like your blog, though. Keep up the good work.

  6. I LOVE the dawgbone, and I do see your point. I try to blog once a day, write something of my opinion, and sit back and enjoy the other posts of news. My blog is more aimed at my thoughts since there are SOO many good news sources. But yes, one post a day is plenty for me.
