Tim Tebow To The Falcons

Yesterday I was driving home from work, listening to the Buck and Kincade Show, when Buck Belue said that the Falcons should be keeping an eye on Tebow at this week's senior bowl. I chuckled at his apparant joke, but then thought it might not be a bad idea to go for him if he is still available in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Give me a minute before you start screaming at me Falcon & Dawg fans. I agree as much as anyone that the dude will not make it as a prototypical NFL type quarterback. My thoughts are that he may be able to play a slot/tight end hybrid position; occasionaly lining up in shot gun to do what he does best.

You can't really argue the fact that the guy has something special, and he will probably succeed at most anything he does. I think we should go after him and see if he can take over for good old Tony Gonzalez in a year or two when he is ready to put up the cleats.

Do you think Tebow would look good in Red & Black?

  1. They already have a tight end.

  2. You're right Anon! That's why I referenced him, Tony Gonzalez. He's not far from 40 and going to retire soon.

  3. I would have a problem with the Falcons drafting Tebow in the 2010 draft. However,
I wouldn't have a problem with the Falcons signing Tim Tebow as a tight end in like two or three years after he has ultimately decided that he is better off playing tight end as opposed to fulfilling his quest to be an NFL QB.

  4. This is retarded. Neither you or anybody else has ever seen Tebow even attempt to catch a pass. Just being semi-big and physical doesn't make you a TE prospect. You have to be able to block (ESPECIALLY in the Falcons scheme), run routes and catch passes in traffic.

The idea that Tebow could just step into that position is ignorant.

  5. And aside from the issue that he is not a TE and drafting him as a TE would be ridiculous... there is the issue that we don't have a 2nd round pick, so you are essentially saying that we should draft him as our 2nd pick, which, given our needs at DE and OLB, is an absurd notion.

  6. I think Tebow's NFL future is on the sideline as a "SC"... So if the Falcons want to hire him and not draft him, then I have no problem with that... He would make an awesome Spititual Coordinator.

  7. TWD, the post was hypothetical. Retarded is a big word for you! Wanna challenge me in an IQ test? I'm willing to bet Tebow can catch, block, take your mom out on a date...and all at the same time!

Seriously, the guy is a special athlete. Why not gamble on him if he's available late?

  8. Okay, he's a gifted athlete, but it's considerable SAFER to take a proven player at TE, if, say, the Falcons necessitated a TE. However, I don't think the Falcons have an immediate need at TE and should rather focus on OLB and D line. Personally, if we're talking about Tebow switching positions, why not look at MLB? He's alreayd 6-3 230. Let him add 15 lbs and pound tailbacks and an occasional QB.

  9. I'd like to see what he had at LB as well. I'm hoping the Falcons will be able to get lucky and pick up Parrish Cox or Derick Morgan in the first round.
