QBs Split Snaps Evenly...MISTAKE

So, after reading every piece of news made available about UGA's first day of spring practice yesterday, it has been made pretty apparent that the 3 quarterbacks are going to split practice snaps evenly throughout the spring. I will give Richt and Bobo the benefit of the doubt for at least 3-4 practices, but after that, they need to lean towards a starter.

I know that this post is a reiteration of the one from yesterday, but hopefully Mark Richt will read this. PICK A MAN FOR THE JOB ASAP. None of the guys have ever started a college football game! The starter needs as many reps as humanly possible, and that AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN if three guys are splitting time evenly!

UGA Should Decide QB ASAP

  1. I agree. They should cut to two at the next practice. Gray will not be the man and should be getting work somewhere else.

  2. How can anyone say giving them equal reps is a mistake? Until one of the Players separates themselves by their practice performance it would be foolish to do anythig but equal reps. You seem to expect the coachs to hand the job to Murray based on his high school performane. We have seen many players that are great in high school but not in college. I don't think that is the case with Murray BUT, I want him to prove it in Practice not just give it to him.

  3. Ant, all three guys have practiced with UGA for over a year now. Trust me when I say, one of them has proven who has the most upside. Now, get that guy out there taking charge of this team! If you read all my posts, I do favor Murray, but I support whoever the staff chooses. I simply say, the future starter needs REPS!

  4. ...ALL THE REPS we can possibly get him between now and September!

  5. I don't disagree with that to a point. If Murray or which ever one proves they are deserving then the sooner the better. I just want them to prove it. Besides a new season can change alot for many players.

All this being said I expect Murray to be the leader by the end of week after next.

  6. These are young guys still growing and developing, you can't finger the #1 right when spring starts and none of the three has ever started a game (well fans can, coaches thankfully don't). There's plenty of time and also remember injuries happen, we need the best #2 out of the 3. Let the cream prove itself and rise to the top naturally....and trust the coaches.

  7. Just for the record, I was a QB coach at one of the top high school programs in the state for the past several years until I retired a few years back :). I promise I know a little bit about what I am talking about. Mark Richt, God bless his soul, is a bit to politically correct when it comes to pulling the trigger on a QB starter (and a new DC, lol).

  8. everybody is a coach but none of you have won near 100 games in D1 so let the man coach, it's the first day of spring practice for crying out loud.

  9. Now, now, what fun would it be if all of us annoying bloggers just sat back and agreed with everything?

  10. True. My question is, as a dawg fan, are you not doing your team a disservice with a post such as this. The blogosphere is flaming our team just fine, no reason to fan the flames one day into Spring practice. Next thing you know Chris Low takes your post topic and runs with it...

  11. In all honesty, I am doing nothing more than writing about a situation that I think would benefit our team greatly! As for the whole "blog getting out" thing. If my blog affects the play of our Dawgs, we have way more serious problems than who is playing QB next season!

  12. The last thing our coaches need is a media-generated quarterback controversy started right now. Don’t sell your blog short; it’s picked up by The DawgBone, you get exposure, and you can have an effect.

  13. I agree with you! So, let's end the controversy by picking a starter asap! I have said it already, but the coaches (Richt & Bobo) know who is the best of the three after a year and a half with all of them (3 with gray).
